2015 CCFA Take Steps

BJ was the honored hero at the Take Steps Walk in Fairfield, CT

Another year down in the fight against the suffering caused by Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, two very debilitating digestive diseases.

In this year’s edition, McElroy Film’s videographers were sent to Atlanta, Boston, and Fairfield, CT to film Take Steps Walk Events. This time, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) asked to focus the video on BJ, a young boy who has already suffered for years. Despite it all, BJ has developed a very positive outlook on life and has devoted himself to helping raise money and awareness with his parents’ help. Also included are similar voices who have suffered or know someone with the diseases and raised money to help find cures and help keep support programs alive and well.

Victory Programs

Recently, McElroy Films has had the distinct pleasure to work with a local non-profit Victory Programs. The video overviews the many facets of the non-profit including the programs, staff, and methodologies as well as success stories. Victory Programs is dedicated to helping people and their families who may be homeless, have substance use disorders, or chronic health issues like HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and mental illness. The staff at Victory, provides a positive, welcoming environment and is committed to helping their clients regain health and restore hope through immediate access to safe and stable housing. An important part of the philosophy of Victory Programs is the individualized procedures and treatments. Victory Programs has 19 health and housing programs throughout Boston, Cambridge and Topsfield including a farm where volunteers grow organic food for the residents of the Victory housing. Serving over 2600 people a year, Victory Programs is really making a difference in the lives of people in the Boston area and beyond.

Let’s Get Ready

Often, McElroy Films is approached by non-profits looking for a video solution to help their fundraising efforts. In 2013, Let’s Get Ready, a non-profit with locations around New England and beyond, was looking to update their branding in time for their annual fundraising gala. We were able to work within their budget to create a video that describes the mission and successes of the programs. Let’s Get Ready helps kids who might not have the means to continue their education to get into college by helping them study for standardized tests like the PSAT and SAT as well as help them apply for scholarships and financial aid. The programs are broken into sessions that meet up to twice a week for a few hours and are taught completely by collegiate volunteers including many Let’s Get Ready alumni. Every year, the programs help over 3000 kids and raise SAT scores by about 110 points. Most rewarding is the knowledge that 92% of Let’s Get Ready students go directly to college.
